Nation's bacon reserves hit 50-year low

U.S. bacon reserves are at their lowest levels in half a century.

Columbus-based nonprofit Ohio Pork Council announced Tuesday demand for frozen pork belly, which often is made into bacon, is outpacing supply.

In December, the frozen pork belly inventory was 17.8 million pounds, the lowest level since 1957.
