Nationals headed to World Series after defeating Cardinals

The Washington Nationals are headed to the World Series after delivering the city's first pennant in 86 years.

The Nationals, which beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-4, will face either the New York Yankees or the Houston Astros in the World Series.

The first version of the Washington Senators last won a pennant in 1933. The Senators later became the Minnesota Twins.
