National Weather Service offices in Missouri are sharing workloads amid staffing shortages.
The St. Louis office has a 20% shortage of meteorologists, and the Pleasant Hill office is short by 40%, according to KBIA reporting. Those offices are sharing workloads through cooperative operations.
The National Weather Service, which was reportedly already short on employees due to retirements and attrition, has seen additional cuts this year via efforts by the federal Department of Government Efficiency.
