The National Park Service closed the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, to visitors through June 4 following an accident Wednesday morning, which caused damage to a dock.
The accident occurred when tugboats assisting an 894-foot-long, 69,000-ton hospital ship moved the dock about 10 feet toward the memorial situated above the Arizona, a sunken World War II-era battleship.
According to a statement issued by the U.S. Navy Region Hawaii, the move caused damages to dock ramps, railings and a small area of concrete where the dock ramp adjoins the memorial.
The National Park Service, which administers the memorial, considers the conditions unsafe for visiting tourists. About 5,000 people visit the site every day.
According to CNN, the Navy is investigating the accident.
