U.S. job growth slowed in January compared with December.
The Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a 143,000-job increase in nonfarm payroll ranks in January. That compares with an upwardly revised 307,000 in December.
The national unemployment rate in January was 4%, marking the lowest level since May.
