With the launch of its redesigned Web site, www.nahb.org, the National Association of Home Builders is working to give home buyers immediate answers to industry questions, including choosing a builder and understanding mortgages.
"With new home sales soaring to a record high 1.02 million units in July and interest rates continuing to hover at historic lows, there couldn't be a better time to introduce this comprehensive tool for home buyers," said Kent Conine, a home builder and developer from Dallas and first vice president of NAHB.
According to the NAHB, the new Web site offers up-to-the-minute home building and remodeling information to the public, including a "for consumers" section that helps home buyers:
decide where to live and find the right builder to meet their needs;
properly care for their home;
evaluate financing options, calculate payments and access a checklist for closing and settlement;
choose the right remodeler for a project;
learn how builders advocate a smart growth strategy that meets the need for affordable housing while preserving the environment;
understand more about the home building process through education programs; and
access television programming that highlights innovations in home building and creative solutions to remodeling.
