Missouri is one of six states where drivers have been paying around $3 or less per gallon of gasoline for the past couple of weeks, and industry analysts are predicting gas prices in the rest of the country will soon be as low.
According to a CNNMoney report released Monday, the national average price for a gallon of gas fell by a penny a day last week and is now $3.19 per gallon, with nearly 20 percent of gas stations nationally selling gas for less than $3.
Low crude oil prices and high inventories are credited with the price decline, with prices averaging 25 cents per gallon cheaper than last year and expected to continue falling through the end of the year.
