The national debt in the United States exceeded $22 trillion for the first time yesterday.
The debt hit $22.012 trillion, which is up by more than $30 billion in February alone, according to the Treasury Department.
USA Today reports the national debt load has increased after federal tax cuts were passed and congressional leaders sought more funding for domestic and military programs.
