Carl Nassib, defensive end for the Las Vegas Raiders, on Monday became the first active NFL player to come out as gay.
"I’m really not doing this for attention. I just think that representation and visibility are so important," he said in a video posted to Instagram.
In the video, Nassib said he would donate $100,000 to the Trevor Project, a suicide prevention nonprofit for LGBTQ youth.
