NASA is shutting down OSAM-1, a $2 billion satellite refueling project.
Officials with NASA cited "continued technical, cost and schedule challenges, and a broader community evolution away from refueling unprepared spacecraft, which has led to a lack of a committed partner."
The agency's auditor recently criticized Maxar, the OSAM-1 program's lead contractor, for "poor performance."
