A panel of Food and Drug Administration experts voted in favor Wednesday of making the overdose-reversing drug naloxone available over the counter.
The FDA is slated to make a final decision in the coming weeks.
The prefilled nasal device, Narcan, is the leading version of naloxone in the United States. It's also available as an injection.
