Members of the local Home Builders Association applauded the recent appearance in Springfield of National Association of Home Builders President Bruce C. Smith.|ret||ret||tab|
Smith addressed the HBA dinner meeting at the Clarion Hotel Feb. 20. His remarks to the group at large were brief and focused on the national leadership's efforts to counter proposed wetlands legislation that the organization regards as extremely unfair to developers. Smith did, however, spend a good deal of time talking one-on-one with individual members, according to HBA Executive Officer Matt Morrow.|ret||ret||tab|
HBA President Ed Alden described Smith as "an excellent leader, an excellent motivator. When you're talking with him about your issues, you feel he understands them, will take them to heart, and will work with them on a national level for you.'|ret||ret||tab|
Smith, a builder himself, is from Walnut Creek, Calif. He has seved on the NAHB Board of Directors since 1983.|ret||ret||tab|
