“The Mystery Hour’s” spoof video dubbed “Instagram Husband” has gone viral the last 24 hours.

Posted at 10:41 a.m. Tuesday, the YouTube video had over 885,000 views as of 12:30 p.m. The post was picked up by several news and entertainment sources, including Time, New York Magazine and Adweek, as well as blogger Perez Hilton.

The video pokes fun at photos on social media app Instagram, where users often post selfies and shots of food. It opens with “Mystery Hour” host Jeff Houghton, who appears with his wife Michelle.

“My name’s Jeff, and I’m an Instagram husband,” he says. “Behind every cute girl on Instagram is a guy like me, and a brick wall.

“My job in pictures is to make her look good.”

The video, shot at several Springfield locations, includes A Beautiful Mess lifestyle blogger Emma Chapman and her husband Trey George.

“I’m basically a human selfie stick,” George says in the video. “We used to eat our food. Now, we just take pictures of it.”

The video - shot and edited by Brandon Goodwin with Springfield-based Neighbor Studios - calls on those seeking help to visit InstagramHusband.com, an actual website with additional content.
