Elon Musk this week tweeted that his time as a special government employee leading the Department of Government Efficiency is now up.
Musk thanked President Donald Trump and said the "DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government."
His exit was expected, as special government employees are limited to working 130 days in a 365-day period. However, the timing coincides with Musk's recent criticism of Trump's so-called One, Big, Beautiful Bill.
