Musician collapses during birthday concert finale and dies

Col. Bruce Hampton slowly fell to his knees during the the finale of his star-studded birthday concert. Fans first took it as another one of his quirky performance acts.

Hampton suffered a heart attack in 2006 and was taking numerous medications while touring. He was unable to be recovered during the concert yesterday.

The eccentric guitarist and singer founded several bands, including the Hampton Grease Band and the Aquarium Rescue Unit.
