The Jeannette L. Musgrave Foundation next week is slated to present $462,000 in grants to 62 area nonprofits.
The grant distribution event is scheduled 10 a.m. Dec. 15 at the new Boys & Girls Clubs space at Sherwood Elementary School, 2524 S. Golden Ave., according to the release.
The grants range from $1,000 to $40,000, and the top 10 recipients are:
• Community Foundation of the Ozarks, $40,000;
• Lighthouse Child & Family Development Center, $33,500;
• Railroad Historical Museum Inc., $30,000;
• Drury University, $20,000;
• Salvation Army, $20,000;
• Southwest Baptist University, $18,000;
• Council of Churches of the Ozarks’ Crosslines, $16,000;
• CoxHealth Foundation, $16,000;
• Community Partnership of the Ozarks, $15,000; and
• Heart of the Ozarks, $14,000.
The Springfield-based Musgrave Foundation was founded in 1983 by Jeannette Musgrave using an inheritance from her husband's family oil leases in Oklahoma and Texas. The foundation aims to help underprivileged children; provide scholarships, particularly to young women entering the nursing field; and assist the elderly financially, according to its
