Musgrave Foundation to award $250K in grants

The Musgrave Foundation is slated to present over $250,000 in grants to some 45 local nonprofit organizations.

The semi-annual grant cycle presentation is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at Hickory Hills Country Club. The grants bring the Springfield-based foundation's total distributions to roughly $12.5 million, according to a news release.

The nonprofits, listed by grant amounts, are:
  • $25,000: Drury University;
  • $17,000: CoxHealth Foundation, Southwest Baptist University;
  • $12,000: Salvation Army;
  • $11,000: OTC Foundation;
  • $10,000: Community Partnership of the Ozarks and Railroad Historical Museum Inc.;
  • $9,000: Council of Churches-Crosslines;
  • $8,500: Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield;
  • $8,000: Heart of the Ozarks, Ozarks Food Harvest, Southwest Missouri Office on Aging and Springfield Community Center Inc.;
  • $7,000: Convoy of Hope Inc.;
  • $5,000: Council of Churches-Connections, Springfield Victory Mission and Women in Need of the Ozarks Inc.;
  • $4,500: The Kitchen Inc.;
  • $4,000: Great Circle, Isabel’s House, Kids Across America Foundation and Least Of These Inc.;
  • $3,000: Ash Grove Assembly of God and Council of Churches-Ambassadors for Children;
  • $2,000: Boy Scouts of America, Child Advocacy Center Inc., Council of Churches-Safe to Sleep, Doula Foundation of Mid-America Inc., Harmony House, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Junior Achievement of Southwest Missouri, MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries and Newborns in Need;
  • $2,500: American Red Cross;
  • $1,500: ARC of the Ozarks, Council of Churches-Daybreak Adult Daycare and Victim Center Inc.;
  • $1,000: Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks Inc., Christian Support Center, Clarity Recovery & Wellness, Council of Churches-RSVP, Deaf Awareness Group of Southwest Missouri, Diaper Bank of the Ozarks, East Grand Community Services, Family Matters Resource Center, Lost & Found Grief Center, Lutheran Family and Children’s Services of Missouri, North Springfield Betterment Foundation and Ozarks Counseling Center; and
  • $500: Boys Choir of Springfield.
The Musgrave Foundation was formed in 1984 by Jeannette Musgrave using an inheritance from her husband's family oil leases in Oklahoma and Texas. The foundation is aimed at helping underprivileged children; providing scholarships, particularly to young women entering the nursing field; and assisting the elderly financially, according to its website.[[In-content Ad]]
