With the latest donations - presented this morning at Cox North -
the Springfield-based foundation has given nearly $13 million to local organizations since it was formed in 1984, according to a news release.
By donation amount, grants were presented to:
- $30,000: Council of Churches of the Ozarks;
- $18,000: CoxHealth Foundation and Southwest Baptist University;
- $12,500: Ozarks Technical Community College Foundation;
- $10,000: Community Partnership of the Ozarks, Convoy of Hope, Ozarks Food Harvest and Railroad Historical Museum Inc.;
- $8,500: Springfield Community Center Inc.;
- $8,000: Springfield Regional Arts Council and Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield;
- $7,500: American Red Cross;
- $6,000: Springfield Victory Mission, Women in Need of the Ozarks Inc. and Southwest Missouri Office on Aging;
- $5,000: Ash Grove Food Pantry, Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri and Heart of the Ozarks;
- $4,000: Art Inspired Academy, Boy Scouts of America, Junior Achievement of Southwest Missouri and Kids Across America Foundation;
- $3,500: Ash Grove Assembly of God and Isabel’s House;
- $3,000: The Arc of the Ozarks, Cents of Pride, Harmony House, Newborns in Need, Springfield Symphony Association Inc., Springfield Urban Agriculture Coalition and Presbyterian Children’s Home & Services;
- $2,800: Ozarks Public Television;
- $2,500: Great Circle;
- $2,000: A Sporting Chance, CASA of Southwest Missouri, Christian Support Center, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Lutheran Family and Children’s Services of Missouri and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks;
- $1,500: Diaper Bank of the Ozarks, Doula Foundation of Mid-America Inc. and Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church; and
- $1,000: Friends of Operation Us, North Springfield Betterment Foundation, Ozarks Counseling Center, Tri-County Adult Day Care and Victim Center Inc.
The Musgrave Foundation was founded by Jeannette Musgrave using an inheritance from her husband's family oil leases in Oklahoma and Texas. The foundation aims to help underprivileged children; provide scholarships, particularly to young women entering the nursing field; and assist the elderly financially, according to its
