Musgrave Foundation awards $380K in grants

The Musgrave Foundation this morning presented over $380,000 in grants to nearly 50 nonprofits.

Awarded during a ceremony at Drury University, the funding represents the organization’s semiannual grant cycle, according to a news release.

The largest grant of $20,000 went to Railroad Historical Museum Inc. Located in Grant Beach Park, 1300 N. Grant St., the museum showcases the history of the railroad.

The foundation presented the following grant awards this morning:
  • $20,000: Railroad Historical Museum Inc.
  • $18,000: CoxHealth Foundation and Southwest Baptist University;
  • $17,000: Ozarks Food Harvest;
  • $12,500: Ozarks Technical Community College Foundation;
  • $12,000: Southwest Missouri Office on Aging;
  • $10,000: Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield, Community Foundation of the Ozarks, Salvation Army and Springfield Regional Arts Council;
  • $9,000: Council of Churches’ Crosslines and Springfield Community Center Inc.;
  • $8,000: Cents of Pride;
  • $7,000: Camp Barnabas and Kids Across America Foundation;
  • $6,000: American Red Cross of Southern Missouri, Boy Scouts of America, Convoy of Hope and Isabel’s House;
  • $5,000: Great Circle, Christian Support Center, Council of Churches’ Connections, Council of Churches’ Safe to Sleep, Deaf Awareness Group of Southwest Missouri, Drury University, Heart of the Ozarks, Missouri Colleges Fund Inc., Newborns in Need and Women in Need of the Ozarks Inc.;
  • $4,000: Arc of the Ozarks, Council of Churches’ Daybreak Adult Daycare, Doula Foundation of Mid America Inc., Springfield Urban Agriculture Coalition and Springfield Victory Mission;
  • $3,500: Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri;
  • $3,000: Diaper Bank of the Ozarks, Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Good Samaritan Boys Ranch;
  • $2,500: Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks, Center City Christian Outreach and Lutheran Family and Christian’s Services of Missouri;
  • $2,000: NAMI Southwest Missouri and Victim Center Inc.; and
  • $1,000: Council of Churches, Council of Churches’ Ambassadors for Children, Dallas County Health Department and Ozarks Counseling Center.
The Musgrave Foundation was founded by Jeannette Musgrave using an inheritance from her husband's family oil leases in Oklahoma and Texas. The foundation aims to help underprivileged children; provide scholarships, particularly to young women entering the nursing field; and assist the elderly financially, according to its website.[[In-content Ad]]
