Murphy Oil Corp. announced it would move its headquarters to Houston, Texas, from El Dorado, Arkansas.
Company officials said all worldwide staff activities are being consolidated into its existing office in Houston.
“We simply do not have a choice and came to this decision only after exhausting all other cost-saving measures,” board Chairman Claiborne Deming said in a statement.
The decision comes as the COVID-19 crisis has drastically reduced oil prices.
