Murney ranks in Real Trends 500 on $530M in sales

Posted online
Murney Associates, Realtors ranks No. 102 in the Real Trends 500 2012 annual report of the largest real estate brokers in the country and No. 44 among the top independent agencies.

Ranked by closed transaction sides in 2011, Springfield-based Murney Associates reports a 5.8 percent increase in transaction sides to 3,916 in 2011 across its five area offices.

In each real estate transaction, there are two sides – the buyer and seller – that can be represented by a real estate agent. Real Trends Editor Amy Broset said companies involved in both listing and selling a property count that transaction as two sides in the list.

Murney Associates also ranks No. 197 based on sales volume of $530 million in 2011, down roughly 5 percent from 2010 sales of $559 million.

Murney first cracked the list in 2000, after just two years in business, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

Murney was the only Springfield real estate company in the top 500, published earlier this month. Three local firms are among the list’s up-and-comers:
  • Coldwell Banker Vanguard, Realtors, No. 69 among the top Coldwell Banker offices nationwide, with 937 transaction sides;
  • Keller Williams Realty, No. 150 among the top Keller Williams offices nationwide, with 896 transaction sides; and
  • ReMax House of Brokers, No. 264 among the top ReMax offices nationwide, with 690 transaction sides.
Castle Rock, Colo.-based Real Trends has published the list for 25 years, using independent verification of the real estate firms’ numbers, according to the report.
