The 2005 Power Broker Report and Survey, an annual report distributed by RISMedia, ranked Murney Associates Realtors No. 100 among the top real estate brokers in the United States.
“We are excited to receive this national recognition,” said Patrick Murney in a news release. “We are extremely proud of our associates who have put forth such tremendous effort during the past year.”
The report ranked real estate brokers according to their number of closed transactions in 2004. Springfield-based Murney Associates, founded in 1997, posted 5,661 closed transactions and closed sales volume of approximately $733 million in 2004. Murney Associates was the only real estate broker in Missouri ranked in the top 100.
Murney managing broker Jeff Parker said this is the first time Murney Associates has submitted information to be on the list.
“Considering being in the top 100 in the nation for a market of our size, and the number of units, it’s a pretty incredible thing for a company, especially for one that has been growing the way it has in such a short amount of time,” Parker said.
New Jersey firm NRT Inc., with 497,472 transactions and more than $204 billion in closed sales volume, ranked No. 1.
Parker credits the Springfield company’s growth to its 486 agents.
“We are extremely focused on our agents, and with the numbers of agents that we have, we create an economy of scale that really keeps our agents’ expenses down,” Parker said.“We … give them the tools (so) that they can provide top customer service in the market here in Springfield.”
Murney attributes the company’s success to customer service.
“Our company has not lost sight of their primary focus – the customer,” Murney said.
Sales at Murney continue to climb. In the first quarter of this year, Murney has seen a 27 percent increase in sales volume compared to the first quarter of 2004.
A portion of its sales is reported to the Springfield Multiple Listing Service. As of March 31, Murney Associates reported a sales volume of $130.7 million compared to $166.3 million last year. Parker said the percentage is a more accurate representation of the company’s total sales, because not all of the company’s sales are part of the MLS.
