Eight Applebee’s restaurants have closed abruptly in the Kansas City area.
Two restaurants remain in the metro area.
A company executive said the decision was made by a franchisee.
“This situation is unfortunate, and we continue to believe the Kansas City area is a great neighborhood for Applebee’s restaurants,” said Tony Moralejo, president of Applebee’s, in a statement to the Kansas City Star. “We are exploring options about the future of these restaurants.”
