According to Dennis Wiggins, manager of MCC’s Springfield operations, the company reported about a half million dollars in gross sales every month July through November 2005.
“We’ve had a very strong summer and fall, and we have more opportunities coming our way,” Wiggins said.
Also fueling MCC’s growth is the fact that it offers a variety of services – electrical, fabrication and mechanical – primarily for industrial clients.
“We do all three of these trades under one roof. There is not any other company, that I’m aware of, that does all three,” Wiggins said.
By offering three different services, companies can work with one contractor instead of coordinating time, resources and services with two or three different contractors.
“When a production facility has to shut down, time is money,” Wiggins said. “Our guys do a lot of weekends and holiday work.”
MCC was founded in Springdale, Ark., and the Springfield branch opened in 1997, largely due to the opportunities available with the Springfield Kraft plant.
“(MCC) does electrical installations, modifications, mechanical, and repairs such as stainless steel pipe fittings,” said Kraft Maintenance Planner Neal Sands.
MCC also has worked on the infrastructure of Kraft’s Springfield facility for more than two years.
“We use MCC for pallet repairs, equipment installation, modifications in our boiler area, anything to do with mezzanine and structural design,” said Shannon Derrick, utility mechanical technician with Kraft. “As far as their electrical department, we’ve used them with equipment installation, adding safety items, lighting, Ethernet, as well as outside lighting and repairs.”
The Springfield office of MCC has 40 employees; the parent company in Springdale, Ark., employs 350.
AutoCAD capabilities for design and a fully equipped machine and fabrication shop with skilled craftsmen in all three trades are available in Springfield.
Others businesses in Springfield that MCC has done contract work for include Clariant and Paul Mueller Co., and in Joplin, MCC has worked for Jasper Products, Grand Packaging and General Mills.
Wiggins expects continued expansion of that client roster.
“We’re looking for steady growth, because we are about developing relationships through our customers or our vendors,” he said.
