Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., visited Missouri State University’s Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts on Friday to announce the school’s touring choir will perform at the next presidential inauguration.
Blunt serves as chairman of the 58th presidential inauguration committee and helped select the Chorale, a 50-voice choir directed by Cameron LaBarr that’s traveled throughout the United States, Europe and South Africa. The group performs at conferences held by the American Choral Directors Association, Missouri Music Educators Association and the National Association for Music Education, according to a news release.
“I have no doubt that the millions of Americans watching the ceremony will be as impressed with these incredibly talented students as all of us who have had the opportunity to hear them perform,” Blunt said in the release.
The 45th president of the United States is scheduled to be sworn in on Jan. 20.
The Chorale, which performed while Blunt was in town, is scheduled for two upcoming concerts: 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at Springfield’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and 6 p.m. Jan. 21 at National Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C., according to the release.
While in the Springfield area Friday, Blunt also was scheduled to participate in an Affordable Care Act roundtable discussion at CoxHealth and visit the Ozark and Nixa chambers of commerce.
