MSU student affairs VP to take new position

Missouri State University Vice President for Student Affairs Don Aripoli will step down this summer to take on other duties at the school before retiring Oct. 31, 2010.

Aripoli’s resignation is effective July 31. Beginning Aug. 1, he will be director of student affairs and vice president emeritus for student affairs, according to an MSU news release. In his new role, Aripoli will be responsible for developing private gifts, teaching one course per semester in MSU’s student affairs master’s program, and assisting development of a privatized housing project.

“I have enjoyed my time as vice president, and I believe we have accomplished much during the past 15 years,” Aripoli said in the release. “But I also have invested a great deal of time and effort into the new master’s program, and there is a need to increase private giving to benefit the student affairs unit. If I can be successful with these two activities over the next couple of years, I think it will provide an even better foundation for the future.”

Dean of Students Earle Doman has been named to a two-year term as Aripoli’s replacement, according to the release. During that time, Associate Dean of Students Mike Jungers will serve as acting dean of students.

Under Aripoli, the student affairs department changed from open admission to selective admission and increased the average ACT score of entering students to 24. Retention also increased to 74 percent from 62 percent, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
