Missouri State University has penned an agreement with Brazil-based Centro Universitario do Estado, making the schools international partner universities.
CESUPA, a university with an enrollment of roughly 6,000, is located in Belem, a port city at the mouth of the Amazon River with a metropolitan population of more than 2 million, according to a news release.
“International partner universities enhance opportunities for our faculty and students to become involved in collaborative research and scholarship and promote faculty and student exchanges,” said Jim Baker, vice president for research, economic development and international programs at MSU, in the release. “It is imperative that our students better understand the challenges and opportunities that they will face in our ever-increasing global society.”
CESUPA is the third Brazilian school MSU has partnered with this year. During Gov. Jay Nixon's five-day trade mission to Brazil in April, MSU officials signed two exchange and collaboration agreements with the State University of Maringa and the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo, according to
