Missouri State University has recorded a record spring enrollment.
This spring, 22,057 students are enrolled systemwide, topping the previous record of 21,629 set in
spring 2013. This spring, 20,473 students are enrolled at the Springfield campus and 1,667 students are enrolled in West Plains, with 83 duplicates, according to a news release.
Officials said much of the record can be attributed to returning students from the
fall semester, when the school set a record of 23,838.
The school also recorded growth in the number of transfer students - 671 new transfers this semester - and those who take their courses online.
“Transfer students are very important to us,” MSU President Clif Smart said in the release. “In 2013, 47 percent of our new undergraduates came to us as transfer students. We have worked hard to build relationships with community colleges and to serve those students who transfer to us.”
Compared to spring 2013, the three departments with the largest growth this semester are biomedical sciences, up 15.8 percent; management, up 11.3 percent; and finance and general business, up 11.1 percent.[[In-content Ad]]
