MSU sets open forum dates for presidential finalists

Posted online

Missouri State University has scheduled three open forums next month for the public to meet its presidential finalists.

John Jasinski, Roger Thompson and Richard Williams are slated to appear in the theater of MSU's Plaster Student Union on Feb. 15, 27 and 29, respectively, according to a news release. All of the forums are scheduled for an hour starting at 2:30 p.m.

The finalists also are slated to appear at MSU's West Plains campus next month.

Jasinski, MSU provost since 2022; Thompson, vice president for student services and enrollment management at the University of Oregon; and Williams, president of Utah Tech University from 2014 through early 2024, were announced as the finalists for MSU president earlier this month. Williams recently stepped down at Utah Tech to pursue other opportunities, according to reporting by Deseret News.

The winning candidate would succeed President Clif Smart, who previously signaled his intention to retire from the university this summer.

The MSU Board of Governors expects to select a new president in March, according to the university's presidential search timeline.
