In tepid times for university enrollment across the country, Missouri State University has set an inner-school record this fall.
Official enrollment, based on the university's 20th day of classes, totals 23,838 students, surpassing the previous record of 23,092 set in fall 2010, according to a news release.
In Springfield, 21,798 students are enrolled, an increase of 739 from last fall. The West Plains campus has increased enrollment by 21 to 2,123 students from a year ago. Some 83 students who are enrolled at both campuses were counted once for the system total.
MSU enrollment represents students from every Missouri county, every state and Washington D.C., and 85 countries outside the U.S., the release said.
According to the
U.S. Census Bureau, fall 2012 enrollment nationwide fell by 467,000 students compared to the year before, following growth of roughly 3.2 million 2006-11.[[In-content Ad]]
