MSU records second-highest fundraising total

Posted online
The Missouri State University Foundation brought in $19.2 million in fundraising dollars during fiscal 2015, its second-highest total to date.

The total for the year ended June 30 is 4.5 percent ahead of fiscal 2014 collections of $18.4 million, and it trails by 5.4 percent the $20.3 million record set in 2012, according to a news release.

“The significance lies in what this allows us to provide for our students, faculty and programs,” MSU President Clif Smart said in the release, regarding funding to be used for university programs, scholarships and equipment.

During fiscal 2015, the MSU foundation secured 46,407 donations from 21,068 donors. Another nearly $2 million in deferred gifts - which would come to the university at a later date via bequests, trusts, annuities or life insurance - were received.

Since the foundation’s 1981 inception, fundraising has totaled $266.4 million, according to the release.
