MSU quarterback gets plea deal for animal cruelty charge

Springfield's municipal prosecutor yesterday reached a plea deal with suspended Missouri State University quarterback on two charges relating to a dog belonging to Ruddick's neighbor.

Ruddick agreed to pay a fine for allowing a dog to run at large, as well as do community service over the next 10 months. The animal animal cruelty charge against him would be dismissed if he completes the service. Ruddick also must attend an anger management program.

During court proceedings yesterday, the prosecutor revealed Ruddick was injured by the dog before he severely hurt it on Sept. 20.
