Missouri State University will upgrade the kitchen lighting and HVAC system at the Blair-Shannon Dining Center.
The MSU Board of Governors voted March 18 to award a construction contract to the lowest bidder – Springfield’s W.M.C. Inc. Five firms submitted bids.
The winning bid was for $784,600, the largest expense in the $990,000 project budget. Funding is from the university’s food service reserve budget.
Blair-Shannon, located across from the Plaster Student Union, is one of three all-you-can-eat dining centers on campus.
The new HVAC system includes air handling units and kitchen hood, exhaust fans and duct work. Roof and ceiling work will be required. The electrical work includes upgrade LED lighting in the kitchen with emergency fixtures and a new panelboard.
Work is scheduled to be completed summer 2026.
