Harders is scheduled to begin Nov. 12 in the position, which has been vacant for about two years. He will have a $90,000 salary and a car allowance.
Harders comes from Kansas State University, where he worked since 2001, most recently as senior director of development for the school’s College of Arts and Sciences. While with the college, he led a team that increased private support for the college from $1.1 million to more than $7 million annually, and he developed and executed the college’s first five-year strategic fundraising plan.
Harders has a bachelor of arts degree in history and political science from KSU.
In the past two years, the MSU Foundation has averaged more than $11.3 million in gifts and pledges. Its endowment stands at more than $56 million.
