MSU, MU presidents speak at Rotary meeting

Posted online
Members of area Rotary Clubs are invited to a presentation Wednesday on the state of Missouri’s public higher education.

Michael Nietzel, Missouri State University president, and Elson Floyd, University of Missouri president, will speak during a noon luncheon at the Oasis Inn and Convention Center, 2550 N. Glenstone Ave.

Nietzel and Floyd will discuss the importance of public higher education in today’s world and its current state in Missouri. They also will identify the major challenges facing Missouri’s public universities, particularly need-based financial aid.

A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.

Springfield has four Rotary Clubs, along with a Rotaract Club for members up to 30 years old. Total membership is approximately 500; more than 300 are expected to attend tomorrow’s event.

The cost is $12. For more information, call (417) 864-5599.[[In-content Ad]]
