Missouri State University and its affiliated Greenwood Laboratory School on Friday dedicated a $6.4 million event center.
The Betty & Bobby Allison Event Center was funded by a lead gift from philanthropist Bobby Allison, donations from Greenwood alumni and state appropriations, according to a news release.
“We’re so grateful to have this space that will help our students get the very most from their education and experience here," said Greenwood Director Janice Duncan, in the release.
Officials previously have called the expansion "a new front door for Greenwood."
The 23,000-square-foot project has a 10,500-square-foot gym that officials say allows the private K-12 school to host athletic tournaments and events, according to the release.
DeWitt & Associates Inc. served as general contractor for the project designed by BRP Architects, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
The project funding is part of MSU's $250 million Onward Upward capital campaign announced last year.
