Missouri State University departments, faculty and staff pulled in 245 grants totaling roughly $19 million during fiscal 2012, a 1 percent increase compared to the prior fiscal year.
During the fiscal year that ended June 30, federal agencies contributed the most grant funding to the university, with $6.7 million. State agencies provided $4.4 million in grants to the school, businesses awarded $3.2 million, nonprofits gave $1.5 million, county and city agencies provided $97,636, international agencies contributed about $25,771 and other funding sources gave $2.6 million, according to a news release, which cites MSU's office of sponsored research and programs.
“The faculty and staff of Missouri State University should be commended for continuing to refocus their efforts to find additional funding and resources for the university,” said Marina Zordell-Reed, sponsored research and programs coordinator, in the release, pointing to continual federal and state budget cuts.
In early July, the university's fundraising arm, the MSU Foundation, announced it
raised $20.3 million during fiscal 2012, marking the fifth consecutive year it has set a fundraising record.
