The Missouri State University Foundation, the fundraising arm of the Springfield-based school, raised $20.3 million during fiscal 2012, an inner-school record.
The funding total marked the fifth consecutive fiscal year the foundation has set a fundraising record. During fiscal 2011, the foundation raised $16.7 million, according to a news release.
The gifts are supporting programs, scholarships, equipment and other campus needs.
“The record numbers are impressive, but the significance lies in what the numbers allow us to provide - support for our students, faculty, programs and facilities," MSU Interim President Clif Smart said in the release. "In today’s world of higher education, these private dollars mean more than ever to the success of the university.”
During the fiscal year that ended June 30, 23,792 donors contributed to the foundation. The MSU Foundation, which was established in 1981, has to date received roughly $210 million, with $52 million in future gifts, the release said.
In January, the
foundation exceeded its $125 million goal for its Our Promise campaign ahead of schedule. The campaign, which launched in August 2009 with a deadline of Dec. 31, now has a goal of $150 million by the end of 2012.
