Missouri State University and Jim D. Morris cut the ribbon last week on a basketball complex bearing the name of the Springfield businessman and philanthropist.
Morris, along with MSU President Clif Smart, held the ceremonial scissors Dec. 20 for a two-level complex inside JQH Arena housing locker rooms and other amenities. The project, which cost up to $4 million, was helped by a naming-level donation from Morris in an undisclosed amount.
The 15,000-square-foot portion of the arena is dubbed the Jim D. Morris Basketball Complex.
The project includes locker rooms for both the men's and women's basketball teams, coaches' offices, an athletic training facility, an academic study area and a video room, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.[[In-content Ad]]
