MSU conference features business discussions

Missouri State University’s third annual Public Affairs Conference next month will have speakers and discussion topics geared toward the business community.

The conference, themed “One World, Many Voices,” will be April 17–20. It is free and open to the public.

Keynote speakers scheduled to attend include Egyptian physician and writer Nawal El Saadawi; MTV and VHI co-founder Les Garland; teacher, activist and author Jonathan Kozol; and MSU President Emeritus John Keiser, who will speak at MSU’s West Plains campus.

A number of conference presenters also have ties to business:

• Kris Arvind, a technical communicator with global business performance consulting firm CGN;

• Greg Curl, previously a commercial loan officer who also spent several years as a special assistant to U.S. Sen. John C. Danforth;

• Xianjian Li, president of Henan University of Finance and Economics in China;

• Erran F. Persley, senior vice president for Africa at Chemonics International Inc., a trade development company; and

• Theogene Rudasingwa, director of Bridging the Divide at the University of California at Berkeley, Hass School of Business. Bridging the Divide is an effort to promote sustainable development through technology and business.

Business topics will include “Trade: Uniter or Divider?,” “Global Peace through Commerce,” “American Business: Unity in Diversity,” and “China and the Global Community: Challenges and Opportunities.”
