The Missouri State University Board of Governors on Friday voted to keep tuition flat for the 2009-10 school year.
The decision makes good on the school's agreement with Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon to hold tuition steady next year if the state keeps its appropriations for higher education the same for the year.
Tuition will remain at the following rates:
$186 per undergraduate credit hour for in-state students and $362 per undergraduate credit hour for out-of-state students at the Springfield campus;
$214 per graduate credit hour for in-state students and $418 per graduate hour for out-of-state students at the Springfield campus;
$102 per credit hour for in-state students and $204 per credit hour for out-of-state students at the West Plains campus; and
$4,366 per year at Greenwood Laboratory School.
The board also approved a $2-per-student sustainability fee that was proposed and approved by students. The fee is expected to generate about $70,000 annually, and the school will match the funds up to $75,000 per year. Students will propose and approve energy- and environment-related projects to be funded by the fee, according to a news release.
