The Missouri State University Board of Governors is scheduled to vote this week on a multimillion-dollar contract for the second phase of renovations at the Woods House residence hall.

DeWitt & Associates Inc. submitted the low bid of $5.5 million for the project, which calls on reconfiguring bathrooms, installing new finishes and asbestos abatement on the first and 10th floors of the building, 1115 Bear Blvd., according to the board’s executive committee agenda for March 20.

The Phase II renovation project has a total budget of $6.5 million and is expected to be completed in time for the fall 2019 semester.

Matt Morris, MSU’s vice president for administrative services, said the Phase I renovation with a budget of $11.1 million  was completed in summer 2018. DeWitt & Associates was awarded the contract in February 2018 and worked on the residence hall’s HVAC and electrical systems, refinished student bedrooms, removed built-in furniture, replaced windows, expanded elevator lobbies, replaced corridor ceilings and performed other renovations, Morris said. Phase II is the last phase, he added.

Last month, DeWitt & Associates also won a contract to construct a new outdoor amphitheater at MSU’s West Plains campus. The firm bid $370,800 for the project.
