The Missouri State University Board of Governors today is scheduled to vote on an $8 million construction bid for Ann Kampeter Health Sciences Hall, nearly a year after a seven-figure donation provided funds for the renovation.
Carson-Mitchell Inc. submitted the lowest bid of $8.1 million for the project, which has a total funding source of $10 million, according to the board's executive committee agenda for this afternoon. MSU staff are recommending board members approve Carson-Mitchell's bid. [Editor's note: The board approved Carson-Mitchell's bid during the meeting, acccording to MSU President Clif Smart.]
Rich Kramer Construction Inc. was the only other bidder with an $8.2 million offer.
Carson-Mitchell's bid is for a Phase I building renovation of the Health Sciences Hall, the 609 E. Cherry St. home of the McQueary College of Health and Human Services.
If approved, Carson-Mitchell would renovate portions of all four floors of the building, with maintenance and repair as the focus. First-floor renovations include a new student advisement center and updates for its speech and language clinic, according to the board agenda. The project is slated for completion by the fall 2022 semester.
MSU announced in October 2020 it received a seven-figure, naming-rights gift from philanthropist Ann Kampeter. The MSU board agenda indicates the Phase I project work is funded by $5 million in private gifts, in addition to other sources.
