The Missouri State University Board of Governors is scheduled to vote this afternoon on $1.7 million in facilities contracts.
Six contracts are up for review, all of which would be awarded to southwest Missouri firms, according to the
board’s agenda.
The largest budgeted project on the docket is a $410,000 renovation of the dietetics kitchen at the MSU Professional Building, 609 E. Cherry St. Springfield-based Mechanical Services Inc. submitted the lowest bid of $334,000 for the project, which calls on the replacement of floors, ceilings and walls and the addition of new equipment to support classes in the space.
Oke-Thomas & Associates Inc. submitted a $229,000 low bid to win a Meyer Library renovation contract, which has a total budget of $363,500. If approved, the Springfield firm would be tasked with relocating the library’s open-access computer lab to the first floor from the second and constructing office space and additional power and data units for the computer lab, according to the agenda.
The MSU board is slated to vote on a $300,000 on-call service contract with Springfield-based Core10 Field Services LLC. If approved, the mechanical contractor would be responsible for the repair and replacement of mechanical heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems as needed at university properties across a 10-county footprint.
Paragon Architecture Inc. is up for a $259,600 architectural and engineering services contract related to a planned addition of Greenwood Laboratory School. The addition - to be built on the site of an outdoor paved basketball court - would add a new entrance, office, lobby, restrooms and multipurpose center with seating for 800, according to the agenda.
Mechanical Services Inc. also submitted a low bid of $105,260 for a Plaster Student Union contract with a total budget of $227,000. The project would convert one of the building’s food court venues into a Burrito Bowl restaurant, with changes to the front counter, equipment and finish.
Bolivar-based Hovey Homes LLC bid $125,000 for a contract to make federal Americans with Disabilities Act improvements on the Springfield campus. The project with a total budget of $188,500 would improve accessibility at Carrington and Cheek halls by adding new flooring, ramps, stairs, handrails, walls, ceilings and fire alarm notification systems, among other changes, according to the agenda.
