MSU Board of Governors elects new officers

Missouri State University’s Board of Governors elected new officers Friday.

Board Vice President Michael Duggan was elected president, succeeding Mary Sheid. Duggan was first elected to the board in 2003 and was reappointed in 2005 to serve until Aug. 28, 2011, according to a news release. He is an MSU alumnus and is vice president of sales for Dot Foods Inc. of St. Louis.

Brian Hammons, also an MSU alumnus, was elected vice president. He is president and CEO of Hammons Products Co. in Stockton.

Nila Hayes, MSU chief financial officer, was named treasurer, and John McAlear, staff emeritus, was named secretary.

MSU’s board comprises 10 governor-appointed members: nine voting members representing all nine of Missouri’s Congressional districts, and one nonvoting student member. The seat for the state’s 1st District is currently vacant.
