The MSU Board of Governors was formed Aug. 28, the effective date of Missouri Senate Bill 98, passed during the 2005 legislative session. The bill requires voting members of the board to be appointed from each of the state’s nine congressional districts. It also mandates that the governor appoint a nonvoting student member.
The appointees are:
• James Buford, of St. Louis, is president and CEO of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis.
• Michael Duggan, of Chesterfield, is vice president of sales for Dot Foods Inc.
• Phyllis Washington is the principal of Allen Village Charter School in Kansas City.
• Michael Franks, of Neosho, is vice president of marketing for O’Sullivan Industries.
• Mary Sheid, of West Plains, owns Physical Therapy Specialists Clinic Inc.
All appointments are subject to confirmation by the Missouri Senate and will expire in 2011.
