MSU board considers tuition hike

Posted online
The Missouri State University Board of Governors will meet Thursday in West Plains to consider a 3.9 percent tuition increase for the 2008-09 school year.

Under the proposed plan, undergraduate credit hours would go up $7 to $186 for in-state students and up $13 to $362 for non-Missouri residents. Graduate credit hours would go up $8 to $214 for in-state students and up $16 to $418 for non-Missouri residents.

Other costs up for board consideration are housing and student user fees, which include computer usage, student activities, capital projects and health services. Current student user fees start at $92 for one credit hour and go up to $309 for seven or more credit hours; those figures would increase to $100 and $338, respectively.

Basic fees for MSU’s West Plains campus will remain at $102 per hour for in-state students and $204 for non-Missouri residents. The 2006-07 tuition for Greenwood Laboratory School, on the MSU campus, will be $4,366.
