The Missouri State University Board of Governors yesterday voted on a contractor to repair cracked flooring in the Hammons Student Center weight room.
Bales Construction Co. Inc. got the nod with its $103,000 bid, MSU President Clif Smart confirmed.
The company beat out:
• MTS Contracting Inc., which bid $115,000;
• Kenmar Construction Inc., $124,659;
• Hovey Homes LLC, $125,500; and
• DeWitt & Associates Inc., $128,500.
The project with a $145,000 budget calls on Bales Construction to repair cracking between concrete slabs running the length of the weight room at the 731 Bear Blvd. student center. Bales will install structural steel to provide adequate support, as well as new concrete and flooring. The work is scheduled to be performed during the spring 2017 semester, according to the board’s agenda.
The MSU board also approved Core 10 Field Services’ $49,665 bid to replace a chiller at Kentwood Hall.
The project, which has a $160,000 budget, would replace two 30-year old chillers that provide air conditioning for the 700 St. Louis St. building with a single chiller. One of the current chillers failed and the other is nearing the end of its life span. The university already purchased the new chiller that’s expected to arrive in late November, according to the agenda.
