MSU board approves JVIC not-for-profit

Posted online
The Missouri State University Board of Governors on Friday approved the creation of JVIC Inc., a not-for-profit arm that will act in conjunction with Jordan Valley Innovation Center and MSU’s Center for Applied Science and Engineering.

MSU President Michael T. Nietzel, Vice President for Research and Economic Development James P. Baker and General Counsel John F. Black will act on behalf of MSU as the incorporators and registered agent, respectively, for JVIC Inc.

JVIC Inc. will qualify as a 501(c)3 public benefit corporation and will serve as a Missouri Innovation Center. Its objective will be to serve the school through charity, science and education.

The board also approved the $67 million JQH Arena on the MSU campus, for which construction is set to begin in December. The resolution provides expense categories and sources of funding. Another passed resolution expresses the intent to issue bonds for the project and adjusts John Q. Hammons’ gift commitment from $25 million to $30 million, and a third passed resolution authorizes the university to proceed with contracts for the arena’s private suites.[[In-content Ad]]
