Missouri State University was selected to receive more than $20 million in grants during fiscal 2013, a 6 percent increase compared to the prior year.
The school's office of sponsored research and programs counted 289 grants awarded for the year ending June 30, according to a news release.
“Even in the face of sequestration and continued budget cuts, the faculty and staff of Missouri State University were able to increase our funding levels,” said Marina Zordell-Reed, coordinator of the office of sponsored research and programs, in the release. “This increase was accomplished by garnering more funding from federal and state entities, as well as continuing to provide services to outside sources."
Of the total grant funding, MSU received roughly $8.2 million from federal agencies and $4.6 million from Missouri sources. The grants assist university departments, faculty and staff in education, research and service projects.
